In 1996, Chinese archaeologists discovered the tomb of Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou (557-581), a Xianbei dynasty during the Northern and Southern Dynasties. Based on the remains and DNA from there, the emperor’s actual appearance will be restored in April 2024. succeeded.
As you can see, the one on the left is the actual restored image, and the one on the right is a portrait from the Tang Dynasty, which is similar but quite different.
As a result of DNA analysis, Emperor Wu was genetically a mixed race of Mongolian and Han Chinese. More than 60% were similar to the Mongolian and Daur people, and the remaining 1/3 were similar to the Han Chinese in North China. Through this, it was reconfirmed that the foreign dynasties that settled in China during the 5th and 16th Kingdom Period gradually intermarried with the Han Chinese.
