A Chinese citizen who urinated and wrote graffiti on a stone pillar at Yasukuni Shrine in Japan has returned home.

On the night of the 31st of last month, a man climbed up a stone pillar engraved with the name of Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo, pulled down his pants, and made a gesture as if he was urinating.

He then takes out a red spray bottle, writes “toilet” in English, and disappears.

This is what a Chinese Internet personal broadcaster did to protest against the discharge of contaminated water from a Japanese nuclear power plant.

Since there is no extradition agreement between China and Japan, judicial processing on the Japanese side has become difficult.

The man also indicated further action.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that ‘its citizens must comply with local laws while abroad’, but took the position that reflecting on Japan’s history of aggression comes first.
